New Zealand Police seeks to be a world-class police service working in partnership with citizens and the community to prevent crime and road trauma, to enhance public safety and to maintain law and order.
Road Policing is core business for New Zealand Police. We work with a wide range of organisations and groups including the New Zealand Transport Agency and the Ministry of Transport.
New Zealand Police is committed to improving fleet safety practices amongst commercial operators as work-related traffic fatalities comprise the largest single category of work-related deaths in New Zealand. By increasing the safe operation of NZ’s fleets, we can improve road safety for all road users and to ensure adherence to road rules. This includes a focus on driver behaviour and fatigue.
